The Kirk

Community Minded; Loving and Serving

The Kirk of Kansas City is an inclusive congregation trying our best to follow Jesus. Together, we worship God, build community, and love and serve God’s people.

Jesus is the heart of our faith, and because of Jesus we welcome everyone with love. The Kirk is not the type of community where everyone is required to think the same way or agree on a list of essentials. Instead, we are a church exploring God’s wildly abundant love for all. Through worshipping together, providing opportunities to learn and to serve, and building lasting and meaningful relationships, we are able to experience this love. We’d love for you to join us.

Covid-19 Updates From Pastor Chad

BRIEF UPDATE (May 9, 2021): Due to delays in receiving necessary equipment for sanctuary technology upgrades, the Session has adjusted our goal in-person meeting date to May 30, 2021.

UPDATE (March 2021):
The Session recently announced that small Kirk indoor gatherings (<15 people) will be permitted beginning April 5, 2021. We have set a goal of May 16th to resume in-person worship in the sanctuary. Meeting this goal will depend on Covid trends continuing to improve and the CDC issuing new guidance for large gatherings, among other things.

Pastor Chad offered a Covid-19 update in worship and sent a pastoral letter this week. You can also read the letter from Pastor Chad at our COVID update page here.  A video update with much of this information is available below (You can press the rectangle in the lower right corner to expand the window). It contains the most up-to-date information:

A little bit

who we are

The Kirk is a congregation of people from all over the Metro Kansas City. People come from the neighborhoods around The Kirk, southern Johnson County and all over - even way up in Parkville and down to Harrisonville.

Some have called The Kirk home for our entire history. Some are newer members who have recently moved to the area. Some are even from other countries like South Korea, El Salvador, and Cameroon.

We have great kids who stay for worship and participate in our youth programs. We have older couples and a number of families too.  We live normal lives and find our time together at The Kirk to be helpful in navigating a busy, stressful, changing world.

together we hope to help you connect to the best of what life is all about.

The Kirk's worship service includes traditional music, a biblically sound and culturally relevant sermon, and a space to pause and find meaning in something beyond yourself.

We find our time together on Sunday mornings to be helpful in navigating a busy, stressful, and changing world. Through worship together we hope to help you connect to the best of what life is all about.

By going out in the world, we are loving and

our community.

We are a church because God calls us together to love one another and to serve others as Jesus has loved the whole world. We take this requirement of our faith seriously. Because of God's love, The Kirk works with a number of organizations to help and serve throughout South Kansas City, Kansas City at large, and the world, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Peace Park

A faithful vision for our space.

We love our building and grounds. It is more than a place for us to gather in worship and fellowship. It is a tool for ministry and mission, a place for us to worship, to give thanks, to say goodbye and to mark transitions.
