Greater Kansas City

Beyond our immediate neighborhood, we are part of a dynamic urban community. Through direct assistance, financial support, and community building, we engage a number of organizations throughout the Kansas City Metro area. Here are just a few that are particularly cherished by us:

Cherith Brook is a residential Christian community in Kansas City, Missouri committed to sharing table fellowship with strangers and all resources with one another. The Kirk contributes financially to the organization and participates in their community meal program by providing and serving dinner at Cherith Brook several times each year. Organized around Dorothy Day's Catholic Worker community model, they are led by a Presbyterian pastor and his family.
Community blood drives are held at The Kirk quarterly. See the events page for the next opportunity to give blood or contact our office directly.
The Kirk provides financial support to Community LINC, a not-for-profit organization in Kansas City, Missouri, that aims to end homelessness, impact poverty and remove barriers to self-sufficiency for the families they serve.
The mission of Grace United Community Ministries is to work hand in hand with families and individuals to address their basic physical, educational and spiritual needs, empowering them to break the cycle of poverty and live a purposeful life. It is a United Way affiliate agency.

As well The Kirk’s financial contributions, food is collected at The Kirk on an ongoing basis and delivered monthly to the Grace Food Pantry. In December each year clothing, gifts and food are collected for our “Mitten Tree” which is displayed outside the sanctuary during Advent. Then the items collected are donated to the Grace United Community Ministries Holiday Shop. Volunteers from The Kirk assist in the Holiday Shop shortly before Christmas.

Join us to work at Harvesters Community Food Network with Kirk Youth and Adults. We work on the second Thursday of every month from 6 – 8 PM. Carpools leave The Kirk at 5:30 PM. Everyone eight years and older is welcome to participate!
In response to the Good News of Jesus Christ, Heartland Presbyterian Center provides hospitality and programming in a natural setting for individuals, families, churches, and the community. The Kirk provides financial support to Heartland Center each year. Through a unique partnership, Heartland Center leads an annual Traveling Day Camp at The Kirk, where we bring all the excitement of church camp to our location at 114th Terrace and Wornall Road (along with crafts, games, horseback riding, and age appropriate learning about faith and friendship). This year 55 campers from throughout our neighborhood participated.
The Kirk gives funding each year to Newhouse in Kansas City, Missouri, whose mission is to break the cycle of domestic violence by providing the tools that allow women to make positive choices and lead self-sufficient lives.
The Mission of Amethyst Place is to support women, recovering from drug and alcohol addiction, and their children by providing safe, drug-free housing and individualized services to promote healthy families.
